ABOUT JOHN

Dr.  John C. Lesher, a native of Pottsville, Pa.,  is a graduate of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary High School, Pottsville, and the University of Scranton where he received a bachelor’s degree in English. He was awarded an MBA in finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania,  an MA in history from Montclair State University, and a MA in political science from Rutgers University.  He received his Ph.D. in  political science from  Rutgers where his  dissertation focused on the Voting Rights Act and redistricting.

He began his professional career as a systems engineer for IBM, and worked for nine years for the Real Estate Investment Department of The Prudential Insurance Company of America.  He then spent more than 30 years as an executive with Madison Equities, a Manhattan-based real estate development firm from which he retired in 2013. He also taught as an adjunct professor in the master's program in real estate development at New York University. 

Mr. Lesher has been a longtime volunteer with the Westfield United Fund and is treasurer of Westfield Senior Citizens Housing Corporation. He is a member of board of trustees at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield.
